Tuition
Informal
Tuition is available at all levels. Should you be interested in a few pointers on your riding style, the full time guides will offer skills/tips during the weeks riding as part of the guiding/daily routine. As this is not to everybody's liking, comments will only be passed should they be requested.
Formal
Depending upon your existing skill levels, tuition can be arranged at various levels.
Novice
For those having never ridden before an initial assessment will be carried out on a local training ground to assess each riders capabilities. Basic skills will be taught such as braking, gear change, balance, bike set-up, cadence (pedal rotation speed), climbing, descending, etc... At the request of the guest each day can begin with a further tuition session adding more skills each day. The riding is then tailored to the progress being made as the week moves ahead. Should a mixed skill group be present during the same week the guides will split the group into differing abilities and tailor daily rides accordingly. By the end of the week most people are usually amazed by their progress, without even realising it has happened. The whole weeks progress can be video'd and kept forever on digi-cam (usually the early days are the funniest when looking back - that's when you fall most often!).
Intermediate/Advanced
In addition to our highly capable staff, we also have an association with the SMBLA (Scottish Mountain Bike Leaders Association). For 6 weeks per year they run advanced skills courses and officially recognised guiding qualifications from this venue. Or you could go to Scotland... in the rain!
