Joyriders proud to sponsor the GWRTeam
GWRTeam join Joyriders on a February Training Camp
Joyriders Spain are proud to sponsor the GWRTeam for 2009, some of the team spent a week with us this February for some much needed "warm weather" training.
Some serious miles were put in, but the team had a fantastic time - and even left with some fashionable cycling tan lines!!
The GWR Team based in Swindon Wiltshire and was launched in 2006. Since its launch the team has secured in excess of 60 Victories and over 500 Top 5 placings, and has finished each of its three seasons in the top 12 of the National Rankings.
In 2008, the team chose to focus on bringing on some Under 23 and Junior riders, and going into 2009 will continue this with an excellent blend of youth and experience in the seven man squad.
David Sinclair is 20 and lives in Cardiff. Last year he raced for Team Europe based in France and took three victories while on a rare foray to these shores took a stunning victory in the South Region Road Race Championships. 2009 will see him based in the UK and despite his tender years is expected to challenge strongly for the National Under 23 Road Race Championships.
Neil Coleman is 27 and lives in Corsham Wiltshire. Neil has been a Pro since 2003 when riding for Team Endurasport and has been a strong member of several of the top UK teams including Plowman Craven and KFS. In 2007 he also spent much of the season on the tough US Circuit. He is renowned for his speciality, circuit racing. Although he has contested many of the country’s top Premier Races and has been Under 23 TT champion, among a very long list of victories.
Sam Redding is 18 and lives in Waterlooville, Hampshire. 2009 will see him compete as a first year senior, however he has shown excellent form in his two years as junior. In 2008 he took 10th place overall in the National Junior Series with a 7th place and winning the Points Competition at the IOM 4-day among his successes. While on trips to the tough Belgium Kermesses he took several top 10 placings and perhaps his best performances were a fine 6th in the UCI Trofee Van Vlaanderen and 19th in the Junior Tour of Flanders.
Llewellyn Kinch is 19 and from Faringdon, Oxfordshire. 2008 saw Llewellyn tackle his first year as a senior, but having missed 2007 due to a broken leg, literally hit the ground running and gained his 2nd category licence by March. Among his best performances was a 7th in the South Region Road Race Championships and after being ultra aggressive throughout the race took a top 25 placing in the Hillingdon GP.
Peter Kench is 33 and from Hungerford Berkshire. Peter is renowned as a fierce sprinter on the various Circuit races in the Southern half of the country and has taken countless victories and is also an excellent time trialist. Although capable of being prominent at the highest level he will also be relied upon to support the younger members of the team.
Nic Tilling is 34 and from Swindon. Nic is another excellent sprinter and is feared across the South in the circuit races and he continues to use his vast experience, which included a spell with Amore e Vita as a professional, to assist the younger members of the team with tactics and his wealth of knowledge on training and nutrition.
Dan Smith is 30, and is the team manager. He missed much of the 2008 due to a broken scaphoid, but is known for his very aggressive go from the gun style of riding and is relied upon to give his all for the team, both on and off the bike.
